Hello, I'm Dr. Bierma

I was trained in one of the leading psychodynamic schools in the country where I developed a deep appreciation for the power of insight, reflection, and the therapeutic relationship. Over the years, I’ve built a successful history of helping clients not only feel better, but also creating meaningful, lasting change through a strong and collaborative working relationship.

I completed an extended fellowship in neuropsychological assessment, and I currently teach both psychological assessment and psychodynamic psychotherapy at a local university in New Orleans. This blend of clinical practice, teaching, and research keeps me connected to the latest knowledge while remaining grounded in real-world experience.

My approach is comprehensive — I consider all aspects of a person’s health and well-being in their care. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you feel understood, supported, and able to explore at your own pace.

Services

Psychotherapy

I thoroughly enjoy helping individuals navigate life to better understand themselves and their relationships. Therapy is a collaborative, supportive space where you can explore challenges, gain insight, and take meaningful change into your life. I love watching the growth and transformation clients internalize and carry forward over time.

I take a developmental approach to psychotherapy, as I believe everyone has been influenced by previous life experiences in how they relate to their world currently. I strive to help my client’s understand how that architecture formed so they have insight into navigating their lives in a healthier and more balanced way moving forward.

Psychological Assessment

Assessment is my specialty. Unlike many practices that rely on psychometrists, I personally complete every evaluation from start to finish. This ensures the process is comprehensive, accurate, and tailored to each individual. I specialize in:

  • Neuropsychological assessments for cognitive and emotional functioning

  • Alzheimer’s and dementia assessment and treatment

  • Neurocognitive disorders and health-related comorbidities

  • ADHD, learning differences, and personality assessment

  • Memory, attention, and diagnostic clarification

My areas of expertise are not limited to the above listed areas - I offer a wide array of assessments. I also understand that life can make it difficult to complete assessments in a timely manner, therefore I prioritize efficiency without compromising thoroughness so you can meet deadlines and get the answers you need. Rush assessments available for a fee.

My Approach

I focus on your whole experience — cognitive, emotional, and physical — and value warmth, collaboration, and openness. If I believe another provider may better meet your needs, I’ll make sure you’re connected with someone who can provide the right support.

Fees & Payment

My practice is private pay only, and I do not work directly with insurance companies or provide superbills for reimbursement. I choose this model because it allows me to focus fully on your care without the restrictions or limits that insurance often places on treatment.

This approach means your sessions remain completely confidential, we can tailor the work to your unique needs and you have full control over your treatment.
